Four Seasons Resort Nevis Invites Residents and Visitors to Play Golf in Support of Red Cross Relief Efforts in Haiti



Special USD 75.00 Green Fees to Raise Funds for a Cause Close to Home

NEVIS, West Indies - January 29, 2010 - Four Seasons Resort Nevis has extended a special offer through February 10th for visitors and residents to play a round of golf at a discounted rate of USD 75.00 to raise funds for Haiti relief and recovery.  All monies from the green fees will go to the Red Cross Humanitarian Services.

Andrew Humphries, Regional Vice President and General Manager for Four Seasons Resort Nevis said that Four Seasons Hotels worldwide have initiated global fundraising for Haiti with each hotel calling on their local communities with joint outreach initiatives.  

“The earthquake in Haiti has devastated a country that is part of our Caribbean community and one that has suffered so much already,” said Mr. Humphries.  “In Nevis, the fact that we are so close to the scene of despair, I am sure will bring home to us how important it is to contribute in ways that we can to our neighboring island.”

The Resort’s employees also launched a fundraising campaign for the Red Cross. The Red Cross is currently focusing resources through its emergency responders and partners to send food to those in need in Haiti, provide clean drinking water, distribute shelter items and meet the health needs of Haitian survivors. To date, the Resort has raised USD 2,155.52 with contributions still being collected through February 12th. This is a significant figure given the island’s own recent setback with impacts from Hurricane Omar forcing the Resort’s closure in October 2008.

On Saturday, January 30th, representatives from the Resort’s New York satellite office will join an Air Canada-sponsored volunteer mission to Port-au-Prince, Haiti where they will personally deliver medical supplies and humanitarian relief to shelters.  Four Seasons Resorts in Nevis, Costa Rica and Mexico are participating Air Canada’s travel auction with complimentary trip donations towards a future vacation in these destinations.  Proceeds from the auction will provide further support for the assistance campaign.
